4 Low Impact Exercises You Can Do To Help Relieve Arthritic Pain

Being active to the best of your ability is one of the best ways to help relieve arthritic pain. You should aim to exercise as well as taking your daily Rose-Hip Vital supplements, which are a natural anti-inflammatory and with a bit of luck, you wont be in as much pain as you were before. However, if youre looking to get active and dont want to do anything too vigorous, here are four low impact exercises that you can do.

However, it is important to note that you should consult your doctor or a health care professional before incorporating these exercises into your day to day activities, as your health care professional can give you advice on what type of exercise is best for you.

Exercising in water

Exercising in water can include either hydrotherapy, swimming some laps or water aerobics classes. As long as the water is warm and youre not overexerting yourself (which you will know you have because your joints are sore for more than 2 hours after youve stopped exercising), this is a fun way to incorporate  exercise that wont be painful for you! Sign up for water aerobics at your local swimming centre, and get a few friends to come along so you can all have a laugh together.

That way, it wont feel like such a chore and youre getting some pain relief as well as a good social experience out of it. If swimming solo is more your thing though, feel free to do that too. The main focus is just being active in warm water, as it builds up muscle strength and endurance through the resistance in the water.

Yoga

You dont need to have the new age music playing while youre trying to do yoga, but if it helps you, go for it! There are a few ways that you can do yoga, either through a class, watching a DVD on your television or using YouTube to find yoga videos online in the comfort of your own home.

You can feel a bit silly doing yoga stretches in your own home, but the important thing is that youre exercising and that youre not overexerting yourself. If you do not have full range of motion and are unable to follow along with the class or video, try not to stretch too far and just stretch as far as youre able. Dont overdo it though, as your body will make sure you regret it in the morning.

Walking

Although walking may be difficult for you, its important that you still try to move as best as you can as it is a very good strengthening exercise for your joints and muscles. Although your joints might groan and grumble, a little bit of exercise is better than no exercise at all. If its too painful for you to continue to walk, feel free not to go for a walk that day and wait until your body is feeling better.

You dont have to walk 5 kilometres in twenty minutes (which is humanly impossible), you just have to move as best as you can for half a hour a day or less if you cant manage the half hour. Walking plays a vital part in fighting off fatigue and stiffness in your joints, and it might seem overwhelming to walk around the block, but with a bit of help from Rose-Hip Vital, youll be able to manage this and more in no time.

Cycling

Cycling is another way that helps you build up strength in your muscles and joints and that is relatively low impact (depending on how hard you go). If you do not have a bike that you can ride around the neighbourhood, feel free to see if a neighbour has one they can lend you or go to the gym and use the stationary bikes that are available there. Bike riding with a friend can be fun though, although there is nothing wrong with putting your headphones in and listening to some music while youre on the stationary bike.

Unlike yoga, there are no videos that can be found on YouTube to help you as you definitely need a bike or access to a bike in order to go around cycling. The key thing is to not exert yourself, as you dont want your body to be so sore you cannot move the next day. Although, admittedly, us here at Rose-Hip Vital are like that when we try to walk up hills.

Hopefully these low impact exercises help battle the pain of arthritis! If you have any other tips, feel free to let us know in the comment section below or contact us through our social media.
