Many people ask us how they should give Rose-Hip Vital® Canine to their dog and if dogs like the taste. This is especially the case for dogs who are fussy eaters or who have sensitive stomachs! We have put together a few of these commonly asked questions with the answers below for you!
How do you give Rose-Hip Vital® Canine to your dog?
Rose-Hip Vital® Canine is a powder that you mix into your dogs food – not into anything hot as heat can ruin the effectiveness of the product. Below is a picture of what Rose-Hip Vital® Canine powder looks like.
What food is best to mix it in?
What is your dogs favourite food and what do they enjoy eating? You can easily mix Rose-Hip Vital® Canine into things like wet food, raw mince, whisked egg, coconut oil, tuna, sardines, salmon, low fat Greek yoghurt or lactose free dog milk for example. You can mix into anything as long as its not hot as heat can ruin the effectiveness of the product.
Do dogs like the taste?
Rose-Hip Vital® Canine does not have a strong taste or smell – it is 100% natural made only from the patented Rose-Hip Vital® powder. Most dogs love the taste & even fussy dogs who were at first unsure now refuse to eat their until their Rose-Hip Vital® Canine is added in! Some dogs like P’Roy from Life of Pikelet (image above) love it so much they will eat straight from the scoop! #smartdogs
My dog is a fussy eater and doesn’t like ANYTHING! How can I give it to her/him?
Don’t worry, even fussy eaters come to love Rose-Hip Vital® Canine! We recommend starting slow (such as a pinch as if its salt being added to a meal) and gradually increasing this as your dog gets used to it. It might take you 3 or 4 days to reach the recommended loading dose or 2 weeks – do what works best for your dog. You wouldn’t start counting the initial 3 week loading dose period until your dog is on their recommended loading dose for their weight. To learn more about dosage, click here.
My dog has a sensitive tummy, is it ok for her/him to take Rose-Hip Vital® Canine?
Yes, most definitely! We recommend introducing the product gradually to ensure tolerance – similar to the answer to fussy eaters above. We recommend veterinary consultation if your dog has a medical history of stomach sensitivity. One of the ‘side effects’ of Rose-Hip Vital is that is has been shown to help with Chron’s disease in people which is a form of IBS (inflammatory bowel disease).
How long till I see results?
Normally results are seen towards the end of the initial 3 week loading dose period. For some dogs, people tell us they see results sooner than this and some a little after this. It does vary dog to dog for a few reasons such as, what you are hoping Rose-Hip Vital® Canine will help with, what their daily physical activities are, if they are encouraged to play more by their fur brothers and sisters and the severity of their condition.
I am sold! Where do I buy some?
Just click here BUT – first please check the dosage as dosage is based on weight. There is a loading dose for the first 3 weeks followed by a maintenance dose. If your dog is 15kg or over you will need the 500g container as the smaller 150g container will not see you through the initial loading dose period & therefore you won’t have the opportunity to see results. Learn more about dosage here.
