Firstly, welcome to the Rose-Hip Vital family!

Let’s take a moment to look at the difference between our loading and maintenance doses. You’ll notice this terminology being used a lot throughout our website.

The Loading Dose – double your horse’s regular daily dose, administered for the first 4 weeks

The Maintenance Dose – your horse’s regular dose, taken daily when they finish their loading dose

Clinical studies have found that a double dose for the first four weeks ensures your horse experiences the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits as quickly as possible. Typically, your horse will start to show results at the end of this 4-week loading dose phase.

Rose-Hip Vital Equine Dosage by Weight

Rose-Hip Vital Equine dosage is calculated by weight. Our recommendation is that for every 100kg of bodyweight, your horse consumes 5g of Rose-Hip Vital Equine, daily.

You’ll find that each tub comes with a 25g scoop.

The following guidelines are for an average 500kg horse. If you want a more accurate breakdown, we have a calculator to the right.

The Loading Dose – 2 scoops (50g) daily for the first 4 weeks

The Maintenance Dose – 1 scoop (25g) daily, ongoing

How to Administer Your Powder

It’s easy to administer Rose-Hip Vital because it tastes delicious to horses!

You should be able to simply mix your powder through your horse’s regular feed. Because Rose-Hip Vital is heat-sensitive, avoid mixing it into anything hot. Your powder will provide the most nutritional benefit when combined with something room temperature or cooler.

If your horse eats twice a day, split their recommended daily dosage between their two meals. If they eat once, simply mix their entire daily dose into their normal meal.

Top Tips for Fussy Eaters or Sensitive Stomachs

Because Rose-Hip Vital is so tasty to horses, you should have no trouble with administration. However, on the off-chance you have a particularly fussy eater, or a horse with a sensitive stomach, we recommend introducing slowly at first.

Start by introducing just a teaspoon of powder into your horse’s normal food. Keep them at this amount until tolerance has been established, and then slowly increase daily, allowing plenty of time for your horse to adjust to the change.

When you’ve reached the loading dose, keep them on this dosage for four weeks, then drop them back to their loading dose.
